On Tuesday,5th June 2018, TaitaTaveta University held the New SATTU Officials Inauguration Ceremony at the Auditorium at around 4Pm

   The Inaugural Ceremony was presided over by Taita Taveta University's Legal Officer(LO), Dr.Nicholas Rono.

After the SATTU officials testified their Oath Solemnly,this is the Law Jargon The Legal Officer closed remarks with,"and now I declare in Tout Court the leaders officially Inaugrated"

"Taita Taveta University Students to be recognized both Locally and Globally" this words were juxtaposed out to the students at the ceremony by his highness,Professor Simiyu Barasa.                                                                                                                                   Prof Simiyu narrated a dream that he experienced the night before the Inaugral event.This is what he said,"Yesterday I dreamt of one of you(a Taitan Student) being a leader somewhere in this big country of ours.What I mean is that you should not Demean yourself coz you have the power to influenc our great Country kenya."

Other important issues tackled by Barasa include:

• A 5 years strategic Plan to foster Academic Excellence as a cornerstone which is set to run between "2018-2023".
• Use of "PIU principle"(Professionalism, Integrity & Unity) in leadership from the VC to all SATTU Officials
• Holding a leaders Induction meeting the soonest possible.
• Opening a legal forum(Kamkunji) to everyone in the institution for a free and reliable airing of views and challenges. Here Barasa stated that he is free to everyone.
• Spend wisely
• Fully support ICT and students skills..including Press.

Agendas to be Implemented by the New ChairpersonTobias Thomas Tangara #Tripple T

1. Provision of Security lights around all corners of the Institution-This is to act as a general security and the protection from harmful creatures like Snakes the fact being that the University is located around a National Park#Tsavo
2. Issuing of Nonresidence forms early in advance-this will reduce the general sufferings encountered by most non-school residing students#delays.
3. Involvement of students in policy making-this includes calling for students agendas -e.g at the Freedom Corner base # The CPU as it was named by Kevin Ochieng, Sec General just some minutes after being declared the election winner on Wednesday,30th June 2018
4. Ensuring there is Equal and Respect governed interaction between student and the staff-this issue was directed to the cold welcome experience at the Finance -Student Registry by the "ule mzae huongea rude to us students"
5. Implementation of Bank ATM  Machines within the institution's premises-This will, in turn, assist students in secure withdrawals of money in their account plus also reduce the cost of going all the way to Voi just for withdrawals.
6. Ensure that all Taita Taveta student's HELB Loan is timely disbursed -this will reduce the risk of students from humble backgrounds from deferring just because of a mere fee balance.
7. Ensure and Enforce that The Taita Taveta County Government supports needy students in the institution-this will be achieved by he SATTU officials intermediating to the county offices on behalf of all Taitans.
