Kampala (Dec 19/19). As part of the Plan for the Promotion of Colombia Abroad, the Colombian Embassy in Kenya held in Kampala, Uganda, the First Film and Documentary Exhibition of Colombia: Moving images and ethnic voices of a biodiverse country.
Ambassador Elizabeth Taylor Jay held preparatory meetings on December 4 with the Director of Protocol and Public Diplomacy of the Uganda Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Charles Ssentongo, and with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Henry Oryem Okello. During the meetings, the Ambassador established a dialogue with the representatives of the Government of Uganda on the cultural agenda of the embassy and on the consolidation of a bilateral cooperation agenda in other areas.
The sample, held on December 5 in partnership with the Uganda Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was attended by approximately one hundred guests from representatives of government institutions, private sector, international organizations and NGOs.
Through the screening of the documentary Porro made in Colombia, directed by the singer and songwriter Adriana LucÃa, the Ugandan public gathered in the movie theater The Hub had the opportunity to learn about some of the influences of African rhythms in Colombian music.
The Plan for the Promotion of Colombia Abroad is a cultural diplomacy tool of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, whose purpose is to support the achievement of the foreign policy objectives of the Colombian State.
ABOUT THE MOVIE
With the aim of reconstructing the musical memory, the singer and songwriter Adriana LucÃa, undertakes a multi-year investigation in which she will take the viewer on a musical journey to discover the origin of the joint. This musical genre is nourished by cowboy songs, bagpipe music, sheet music, champeta, jazz, and Lebanese gypsy and Syrian cultural influences.
