Expo 2020 Dubai unveils the Women’s Pavilion
in collaboration with Cartier
Expo 2020 Dubai has reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment, unveiling creative content and programming for the Women’s Pavilion in collaboration with Cartier, and reminding the world that only through the full and equal participation of women in all fields can a more equitable and just world be built.

The Women’s Pavilion’s exhibition, titled “New perspectives”, will honour the significant and often forgotten contributions of women, demonstrating that when women thrive, all of humanity thrives.

Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai and Cyrille Vigneron, President and CEO of Cartier International, discussed Expo 2020’s role in offering a global platform to empower women and girls and to drive awareness of the Sustainable Development Goal of gender equality and women’s empowerment during a conversation with Becky Anderson, anchor for CNN.

A diverse community of creators and artists have contributed to the pavilion’s design and curation:

The Lebanese actress and first female Arab director to be nominated for an Oscar in the category for Best Foreign Language Film will create a short film for the Women’s Pavilion.

Mélanie Laurent
The French actress, filmmaker, singer, and pianist takes over the pavilion’s second floor with an immersive exhibition showcasing stories of women and their experiences, from all over the world.

El Seed
The French-born Tunisian artist uses Arabic calligraphy to spread messages of peace, unity and to underline the commonalities of human existence, transforming the lower part of the pavilion’s façade.
Laura Gonzalez
Laura Gonzalez
The French Architect uses inspiration by references from Cartier’s creative heritage to reimagine the upper part of the pavilion’s façade.

From 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, the Women’s Pavilion will host an array of events, programming and meaningful dialogues that will not only enhance knowledge and understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment, but also invites visitors from around the world to join the making of a new world.
